Web Design

Designing an ecommerce site is not the same process as web design to be used for almost any other purpose. Gallery sites, informational sites or blogs all have different agendas, and as such, are designed to carry off the intended purpose. Gallery sites are used for photographers, advertising agencies and other industry types that need to use the visual to present their ideas. Informational sites and blogs are all about content. Ecommerce sites are all about balance between the visual and the content.
At Ecommerce Retail we seek to strike that balance in our web design. People DO buy with their eyes, so good product images become really important. People also are hungry for detail and information, and so well placed content is also necessary.
And you can do all of this and still miss the boat. If you cannot get traffic to your site, even great web design will fail. So another part of good ecommerce design is to create a design architecture that works well with the constructs and rules of the search engines, so that content is placed in ways that not only appeal to the end user, but also feeds the needs of Google, and other search engines. So you could say that good web design also includes the art of designing for SEO (search engine optimization).
And lastly, with all of these pieces in place, you are almost there, but not quite. There are things you can do in web design that will help control conversions, such as guided checkouts, user-friendly navigation, security (SSL) symbols, etc.
We are sticklers for making sure that all the pieces and parts come together in all of our web designs, so that our clients have the best shot at success.
